BetBlocker is also partaking in Safer Gambling Week, with the charity recently reporting 250,000 active users in 2025, a significant milestone for the organization’s efforts in bringing a global solution that helps people struggling to control their gambling habits globally.
Now, BetBlocker is doubling down on this commitment with the launch of the Scheduler tool, which the charity describes as revolutionary. The charity provides free blocking software globally and has launched numerous localization pushes, which is reflected in the tool’s uptake, which has been global, as noted by the recent active user report.
The service is also anonymous, incentivizing players to focus on getting better rather than worry about stigma or blowback. Now, the Scheduler is designed to analyze the player journey and provide tailored blocking interventions that are basically summarized as: "protection when protection is needed."
"The new feature supports users to manage their access to gambling in a way that promotes healthier and safer engagement, allowing them to build out a weekly profile, or customise blocks on individual days," the charity said in the official press release promoting the feature.
Scheduler is designed to address and intervene in instances of excessive gambling that involve potentially risky products, while also considering practicalities. Are users staying up late to gamble? Have they paid their bills first? Are they spending too much on in-play betting?
These are all touchpoints that BetBlocker’s Scheduler feature will now address. Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker’s Founder and Managing Trustee, has been similarly excited about the launch of this brand-new feature and what it means for the blocking software’s ongoing efforts to present consumers with a reliable solution they can turn to when they feel their habits are getting the better of them.
Garvie argues that a lot of the focus has been on intervening after things have gone badly. BetBlocker is ambitiously attempting to address this and expand the scope of its service, serving active gamblers who may not have developed an issue with their gambling yet. BetBlocker’s new feature attempts to do away with this completely.
"Our Scheduling tool looks to meet users where they are, redefining blocking software so that it is no longer a binary choice between blocked or not blocked. In taking this step forward, we’re hoping to engage an entirely new audience and reach users who are not yet ready to embrace complete abstinence. There is potential to see a huge reduction in gambling harm across society if we can intervene earlier and support people to embrace lower-risk behaviours," Garvie wrapped up.
