BetBlocker has another major milestone to report in 2025, as the prevention charity has announced that it has reached 250,000 active users. The charity has reported strong uptake of its service globally, with the tool available in Canada, Kenya, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Romania, and Brazil.
BetBlocker essentially provides a blocking software that allows people who may be struggling with their gambling habits to stay in control. The service is free of charge and anonymous, and BetBlocker has taken a series of steps to ensure that it can reach a wide array of people, including launching numerous localization pushes with the help of benefactors.
Commenting on what has been achieved so far, and the new milestone, Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker Founder and Managing Trustee, had this to say:
"We invested a lot in 2024, improving our data, to allow us to communicate accurately the performance of our project to our supporters, and to build confidence via transparency. That’s meant ensuring that our data is exactly what we say it is, and a focus on making our data easy to understand. We don’t talk about downloads. The number would be higher, but far less meaningful. When we talk about "active users," it means "users with an active BetBlocker restriction in 2025."
Garvie admitted that the growth of the service has outstripped his boldest dreams and that BetBlocker has continued to deliver outstanding results. As Garvie notes, this is not an isolated event, nor a localized one.
"That uptake is distributed so broadly across the globe also demonstrates how the universal need for support in managing access to online gambling services is in the digital age," he added.
